Unloading Service
By Michael Francis | September 23, 2007
Having an unloading service plays a major role in your warehouse and distribution services day to day operations. Not only must you be efficient but you must be safe. Productivity plays a key role in not only labor costs but your entire cost of operation in reference to usage of equipment and other factors that play a role in the warehouse. 2 hour turn around times on carriers is the standard and if you can’t get it done maybe you need a service who can. I good lumper service can unload and break down 25 pallets plus an hour or 400 cases. Some of the facilities we are at we do over 700 cases per man hour per lumper. The lumper service job is one who only benefit is the proficiency by which they unload is reflected in their paycheck. Generally it would cost a arm and a leg to have a temp service doing this. They get paid by the hour so there is no comparison.
