Freight logistics is the manner in which you control your supply chain for moving freight around the world. Freight logistics means to integrate supply and demand with the need of freight in location (A) with delivering that freight from another location (B) in the most cost effective and timely manner. The techniques for freight logistics at different levels change depending on volume. When moving small amounts of freight it is better to piggy back on another network (LTL) or have you logistics team build that small amount into a larger amount to make it a full load to keep transportation costs at a minimum. Where you are transporting full loads or containers you main goal is to find the best possible route and fuel costs and if outsourcing the transportation then you next goal is to ensure good equipment on the contractor half along with a track record of timely delivery.
